How Does an f/504 Event Work?
Imagine this: you’re interested in photography but don’t know where to start, or you’re trying to get into modeling but need someone to take your photos. Maybe you’re looking for a new location or a place to practice. That’s where f/504 comes in.
Once a month, f/504 partners with a unique local institution or business to host a free, large-scale collaborative photoshoot that’s open to everyone—whether you’re brand new to the scene or an experienced professional. Each event offers a new location and theme, giving you access to spaces like museums, galleries, event spaces, and photo studios that serve as creative backdrops.
Show Up and Connect: When you arrive, you’ll find a community of photographers, models, and creatives. If you’re uncertain, volunteers are there to help you find someone to collaborate with.
Time: Our shoots typically run within a three-hour window, so feel free to join anytime during that period! For example, if the event is from 3–6 PM, you can arrive at 3, 5, or whenever works best for you. We encourage you to stay as long as you'd like, but please note that if you arrive toward the end, we may already be wrapping up.
Collaborate and Create: Bring your camera, your creativity, and any questions! Whether it’s about framing a shot, learning how to pose, or simply networking, you’ll have tons of people to turn to for advice.
Follow the rhythm of the event: While the theme, dress code, location, and people change every time, the structure remains simple: people come together to practice, learn, and experiment.
Think of it as a mega-photoshoot, filled with collaboration and creativity. It can feel busy, and it takes patience, but it’s a space designed to help you grow.
