Are you new to photography and unsure of where to begin? Want to build a modeling portfolio but need a photographer? Seeking a low-pressure place to practice shooting or modeling? Looking for inspiring locations to create?
fstop504 partners with unique local institutions and businesses to host free, collaborative photoshoots and art events that are open to everyone, whether you’re brand new to the scene or an experienced professional. Each event offers a new location and theme, providing you with access to museums, galleries, event spaces, and photo studios that serve as creative backdrops.
Time
Our shoots typically run within a three-hour window, so feel free to join anytime during that period! For example, if the event is from 3 to 6 PM, you can arrive at 3, 5, or whenever works best for you. We encourage you to stay as long as you'd like, but please note that if you arrive toward the end, we may already be wrapping up.
Collaborate
Bring your camera, your creativity, and any questions! Whether it’s about framing a shot, learning how to pose, or networking, you’ll have tons of people to turn to for advice!
Theme
While the theme, dress code, location, and people change every time, the structure remains essentially the same. Think of it as a mega-photoshoot! It can feel busy, and it takes patience, but it’s a space designed to help you grow and practice.
Feeling Unsure? We’re Here to Help
If you’re at an event and feel unsure about how to start, just find one of our members at check-in. We’re here to make things welcoming and less intimidating! Our members are a mix of models, photographers, and artists from different backgrounds. Many of our volunteers have been attending fstop504 events for years, and they started as beginners, too! If you’re nervous, we’ll happily introduce you to someone.

Disclaimer
Our events are free, collaborative spaces designed for practice and growth. Patience is essential for everyone involved. Respect and Safety
If anyone makes you feel uncomfortable, please let us know right away. We’re here to support you, but we won’t know unless you tell us. We want these events to be safe and inclusive.
